Doris I. Slater, 95, passed away peacefully at the Good Shepard Fairview Nursing Home of natural causes. She was predeceased by her parents, Paul & Adeline Walworth, her beloved husband, Charles F. Slater; three brothers, James, Ken, and Paul; three sisters, Grace, Evelyn and Helen. She is survived by daughter, Leslie Burns; son, John Slater; grandson, Robert Burns; great grandchildren, Kyle & Kayla Burns; several nieces and nephews. She was a veteran of WWII, being a Lt. (jg) navy nurse and RN at a local hospital for many years later. She delivered Meals on Wheels...

Doris I. Slater, 95, passed away peacefully at the Good Shepard Fairview Nursing Home of natural causes. She was predeceased by her parents, Paul & Adeline Walworth, her beloved husband, Charles F. Slater; three brothers, James, Ken, and Paul; three sisters, Grace, Evelyn and Helen. She is survived by daughter, Leslie Burns; son, John Slater; grandson, Robert Burns; great grandchildren, Kyle & Kayla Burns; several nieces and nephews. She was a veteran of WWII, being a Lt. (jg) navy nurse and RN at a local hospital for many years later. She delivered Meals on Wheels for 24 years. Doris loved and enjoyed the birds in her backyard as well as the birds she saw on her many nature walks. She was a longtime member of the Ogden Hillcrest United Methodist Church where funeral services will be conducted on Monday, January 8, 2018 at 12:00 noon. The family will receive friends on Monday from 11:00 am until the time of service. A private burial will be held at a later date in New Milford Cemetery.
